Building a Business as a Kid

Okay, so these people are “kids” in the sense that they are minors, but they did start their own companies as VERY young adults and they did it in a very unique way. There is no reason that these can’t be examples for your kids. As they get old enough that they can start creating business ideas, here are some business models they can model their’s after so they can be successful. Times have changed–you no longer have to get large business loans to start your own business in the world.

Pat Flynn

Learn a skill set that requires little to no equipment or start-up cost. Pat is a great example of someone who learned a skill and used it to make a fortune. His focus is on passive income, but his skill set is search engine optimization. This is a skill that is highly in demand right now. For the last 5 years, it has been on LinkedIn’s list of the Top 10 Most Desired Skills.

Using SEO he has created an empire. He didn’t need a lot of start-up money; he needed time. Time to learn a skill and time to build websites and rank them. Doing so he now makes $100,000 a month.

Cory Stout

Cory travels the world and delivers some of the best wood sunglasses on the market. What I saw that he did, that I’ve seen a lot of entrepreneurs do, is when they want to collect funding for business growth, reach out to communities like Kickstarter.

It just further proves that you don’t need to ask banks for loans. If you make a quality product or have plans for an awesome business and are willing to loop others in with perks, you can create a win-win opportunity for both yourself and those willing to invest.

These are just two examples, but there are tons of them. From Mark Zuckerburg to Mark Cuban, young people everywhere are changing how people start businesses.
